COOK TEMP/PERMANENT ROLE
The Sugarloaf Restaurant at Raglan Garden Centre is set in the heart of the Monmouthshire Countryside. With a 150 cover restaurant / terrace we aim to offer the highest standards of food prepared and cooked by an experienced team; adopting traditional values with a modern, progressive approach to our menu offering.
We are seeking an experienced Cook with extensive food knowledge, capable of producing the highest quality food and excellent presentation for Head Chef and Front of House. You will support the team ensuring ordering, cooking to strict deadlines, wastage control and the highest standard of compliance to meet environmental health / health and safety are achieved.
The role offers the opportunity to perfect your skills and to up-skill others. The day time working pattern is 08:30 to 17:00 averaging 32 hours per week, which includes working alternate weekends as rostered;
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support Head Chef in the daily operation of a busy commercial kitchen / Restaurant
- To support the kitchen in the absence of Head Chef
- Have the ability and proven experience in cooking from fresh a wide variety of daily meals, demonstrating a flair for cooking
- Assist in menu creation and developing dishes
- Assist with home baking sweet and savoury product for our deli , hot servery and cake bar
- To display and present the highest quality cuisine
- Share knowledge and assist with departmental training
- Ensure the Front of House team have the full support of the kitchen to ensure cooking to order and service times are met
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills with customers and colleagues
- Maintain strict compliance with EHO and Health & Safety
- Demonstrate compliance with all existing company systems, procedures, work practices and housekeeping
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 1 year relevant experience preferred
- Level 2 Food Safety Award essential pre-start date
- Knowledge and proven ability to run station unsupervised
